This popcorn is the absolute best mushroom popcorn i have bought out there. It is better than the description on the website and most of the kernels pop as mushroom, unlike that of their competitor, nuts.com, whose alleged mushroom popcorn popped more like butterfly than mushroom. The popcorn arrived quickly, though the shipping is a bit pricey. However it is well worth it and i will be a repeat customer. |

There're a lot of shops selling popcorn kernels. But none is like JustPoppin about customer service. And you can rely on their wonderful qualtiy of kernels that they are so big and round. Oversea order is just easy. Love it! |

This mushroom popcorn is perfectly wonderful. It makes the best kettle corn ever! We use the recipe from Just Poppin in a Whirly Pop with coconut oil. We just can't bear the thought of buying kettle corn at the farmers market, or anywhere else anymore! We have been very impressed with the quality of popcorn, our orders have arrived super fast and the folks are very nice. We highly recommend Just Poppin and their products. |

If you follow thge directions the popcorn comes out just as they say it will. I too do not like the excess chaff. I made Caramel Popcorn and it came out great. You should include a good caramel popcorn recipe with your orders and on your website. |

I was so thrilled to find the mushroom popcorn. I ordered 5 lbs and it was deliverd promptly!! Of course I popped some immediately !! It popped up great!! I like hot air popped corn, drizzled with butter, but I will definitely be making some carmel corn soon.
As per directions, I let the air popper warm up for at least a minute (but I always do that with any corn--way bigger/better)

I used up 2# of my 5# bag of my mushroom popcorn in making caramel corn to give at Christmas time. Loved it. Got rid of most of the larger hulls by rough handling it several times from one bowl to another. the big kernels stood up well to that abuse. My observation is that 90% were the nice big kernels. I won't go back to microwave popcorn again |

I've been trying to buy mushroom popcorn for years, but could never find anyone willing to sell me anything smaller than a 25 pound bag. I've popped two batches so far and bit have popped perfectly with 90 percent of the corn fat and clunky like mushroom popcorn should be. Old maids were no more than I would typically expect with my popping method.
One tip: don't eat the popcorn fresh from the pan. You need to let it stand for several minutes to allow it to lose some residual moisture and turn crisp and crunchy. This is a wonderful corn for making caramel or cheese corn. |

I expeced the kernels to be larger, with less Hulls. I would not say the kernels are HUGE! The popcorn is tender. I am going to use it for Christmas gifts, packaged wth different flavorings. It is a good popcorn. |

Mushroom popcorn from justpoppin is the ONLY option I would consider for Caramelcorn. I first learned about mushroom popcorn from a Karmelkorn shop owner about 30 - no 40 years ago. She told me that it wasn't available to the "public." Well, things have changed Alice, and it is available. The nice round popcorn pieces hold up well to stirring and all the things that go into making REAL Caramalcorn - I suppose the would be OK for that baked stuff too but I haven't tried that. I LOVE the stuff! Everyone should try it! |

I have started cooking my corn in the Wok. The kids love to watch it hit the glass top. It explodes with very few unpopped kernels. I purchased the coconut oil to cook the corn in and it is great. I would not use anyother oil. Heats up fast and leave the corn greaseless with no taste. |

We followed the instructions for the stovetop method of cooking the popcorn. We covered the bottom of a stock pot with kernals and were amazed by how much popcorn we had. The entire pot was full! The popcorn was fresh, every kernal popped, and it was delicious! We can't wait to make our homemade caramel with this product! |

Ever wonder how the gourmet popcorn shops make their popcorn so big and round? This is the secret to great flavored popcorn. My recipe for kettle corn: put a couple tablespoons corn oil in a whirly gig popper and heat it pretty high heat. Now you have to work fast. Throw a third cup of these beautiful kernels in and get a quarter cup of granulated sugar ready. Stir. When the first kernel pops, throw the sugar in and stir like crazy. The skill and practice comes in now because you need to get this popped and off the heat. About 20 seconds is all and get it in a bowl. Better repeat or everybody will be crying more. Salt as you break up the corn and its cooling. Go ahead, take credit for your work.
This popcorn is the best. Hardly any butterflies so far. Amazing. |

I've been buying this Mushroom Popcorn for a few years and I'm totally spoiled. No other popcorn comes close. I preheat my hot air popcorn maker for at least 5 minutes. The kernels pop up huge when the popcorn maker is super heated. This popcorn is the gold standard. |

Just Poppin's Mushroom Popcorn is absolutely delightful! I use an air popper and some pam spray to adhere some salt and pepper for flavoring. It pops beautifully and have a wonderful crunch and fantastic flavor on its own. It is a much healthier snack than microwave butter popcorn and honestly, I think so much more delicious! A must try and go for the 5 lbs - believe me you will use it all before you know it! |

I love this popcorn! It's light and fluffy with a good flavor. I pop it in the microwave because I don't like to add extra oil. Some say it's even better popped on the stove in oil, but I'm happy with it popped in the microwave. It's the perfect "diet" food for me. Whenever I get the "munchies" I'll eat some just plain popcorn and I'm satisfied. |

The popcorn was beautiful and the hulls were easy to deal with. For me, the problem was the texture. This popcorn was rather tough and chewy, not at all enjoyable. Very disappointing after how wonderful the movie theater and the hull-less popcorns were. I will have to file this under the expense category "experience".

The chewy texture comes from the excess moisture in the kernel. Mushroom Popcorn has a much higher moisture content than other popcorn varieties. It needs the extra moisture to create enough steam for the explosive pop that helps create the mushroom shaped flakes.
Residual moisture is always left behind. After the popcorn is poured into a bowl it needs to sit for a minute or two to let the excess steam evaporate otherwise you may find it chewy.

My fiance has been wanting "brain" popcorn ever since we went to PBR last year. He is like a little kid when he makes this popcorn. It's so big and fun to eat. The only negative, is the little husks that don't fall off, so they do get stuck in your teeth. |

I got myself some coconut oil from a local store and my 10lb order of mushroom popcorn. Put the oil in the pot on medium-high (gas stove) and 3 kernels. Well, I burned the first batch; only about half the kernels popped and they all looked like butterfly popcorn. And super burnt. Disapointed, I scrubbed my pot for almost 2 hrs. My problem: the oil was too hot. (hint: if it starts smoking, that's bad! Mom was right.) When I popped the corn again using medium heat, it popped great! Very few unpopped kernels... But lots of hulls. Still, it's exactly like the description says. After the popcorn cools, it's really fluffy and crunchy... So good. LOVE IT! |

Ever since I saw mushroom-type popcorn at a gourmet popcorn shop, I've wished I could have the same popcorn to pop for myself. Now I can!
I have a new Stir-Crazy electric popper. I preheat the oil with three test kernels and then dump the rest in when the three have popped. My family devours it with a little melted butter and salt.
We can't believe how quickly we've been turned off to microwave popcorn. Now that we've had "the real thing" again at home - the mystery chemicals in those little microwave bags just won't do. |

I tried popping this oil-free and found it had more hulls than using their coco oil. They mean it when they say it says it needs high heat to get a great yield....just follow their directions for the best p-corn! |

I am a new customer, tried the popcorn over the weekend using a recipe for Kettle Corn. The flavor was good and big pieces of popcorn was good. I need to get the hang of temperature and timing better though some did get really sticky and burn. I will try again another day. My next time may be with brown sugar though so I get a more caramel corn. |

I looked everywhere for this popcorn and was so excited to find it! I cannot imagine going back to regular kernals. I found Jennie's popping tips very helpful and also purchased a Whirley Pop and get perfect popcorn every time. It does help to cook a little less than your popper can hold because it seems that these kernals pop to their fullest size when they have the room to expand. |

Oh my goodness!!! This popcorn is the best I have ever had, this is my first order for JustPoppin.com. It is the largest kernals I have ever seen. It is so crunchy, a bowl is almost a meal in itself. I did find that I use a non stick pan that the lid has way to open the vent so air can escape, which is very important.
I have to have the gas flame just right, add enough Light Olive oil to the bottom. Once done, dump into bowl and spray Can't Believe its Not butter, salt and its ready to go. The kernals are huge, but airy, crunchy and it always tastes great. When I get home from work, I make up some popcorn for my husband and I and its just a great snack and delicious. I had bought 3 x 5# bags, hoping to get away for Chrismas but the way we are going through it, it will not last that long. Will be a long time customer for many years. I sent 5 pounds of Mushroom Popcorn to my popcorn-loving sister in law for her 50th birthday. She and my brother then made popcorn for 5 of the 7 nights the first week after receiving the package. They also found (true) a special champagne to go with popcorn for her birthday toast. She said it was the best birthday gift ever.

Excellent. As advertised. Got more that 65% mushroom pops with safflower oil very hot when introducing the batch after two test kernels pop. Chewier and more robust than the ORther butterfly kernels I have been using for years. Tried my mushroom kettlecorn on my daughter visiting from Boston......"You hit a home run here, Dad!" Still can't get the sugar added as the batch begins to pop to carmalize enough. May try a propane powered turkey frier out on the patio next, but I don't think the "kettle" is going to be the right shape. |

This Mushroom Popcorn is just what I had first enjoyed years ago at an NBA game. Years later I finally found this rare popcorn on JustPoppin. This Mushroom Popcorn was just as good as I remembered: large round popped size color and flavor. The only downside for some might be the extra hulls. Just gently stir and fold the popped corn in a big bowl with a wooden spoon. The gentle stirring action effectively rubs off about 75% of these hulls to the bowl's bottom. |

I just loved the popcorn as it has a very wonderful taste and pops up nice and large.. I'm having over a group of friends tomorrow to watch movies, so I will be making it for them for the first time.. I eat it almost every day, as its a good source of fiber and good when your trying to lose weight, as it fills you up, but you need to be careful not to add any butter.... I am hard pressed to find a larger popping kernel available anywhere. There are more hulls to shake off, but it's a small price to pay for such great popcorn. I use Mushroom popcorn to make my own cracker jacks (with cayenne pepper). Everyone marvels at the size of the popcorn. It's crunchy yet tender. Fantastic. |

I think the popcorn is perfect for making the annual christmas treat, however I wasn't prepared for how much excess hulls there would be after popping. I use a hot air popper and make my own caramel for it. Have made several batches already and the difference from other brands is amazing. Each year I try different brands to find the best type for my -now famous-caramel corn. No more searching, This is the best corn I've ever used. The resulting caramel corn is wonderful. Friends who sampled it have asked for nothing else for Christmas- just more corn. |

I was skeptical after having great "Mushroom" kettle corn at a local pumpkin farm. I found JustPoppin on line and placed an order immediately hoping for that same "State Fair" quality popcorn. I ordered 5 pounds and got it in 2 days...how's that for service? Used a Whirley-Pop, which I highly recommend, and ended up with the most awesome, large, tender flakes of popcorn than I've ever made at home. Truly excellent. I think this is the "caviar" of popcorns. |

My family loves kettle corn. Had tried regular butterfly popcorn and it came out ok. Got my first batch of their mushroom popcorn and when it popped I had more than twice the volume in the popper. We are going thru it very fast. My first order was 3 lbs and we just got a 5 lb bag.
If you want to make kettle corn like you buy at fairs then you should use this popcorn. |

I'm not a kettlecorn fan, but wanted to try a large sized popcorn just to see what it was like. The yield was nice with very few unpopped kernels and zero burnie bottoms. The popcorn kernels themselves were very large but the hulls were tougher than I anticipated and it seemed somewhat less than fresh. Perhaps the special bowl the website offers would help with the hulls but I'm not sure it's worth the $14 to buy one. I'm on the fence about whether to purchase this variety again.

Regarding your "less than fresh" experience. This likely was caused by either not letting enough steam escape while popping, OR not allowing the popcorn to cool slightly before eating. As stated on our Tip Sheet which goes out with every order, "Popcorn right out of the popper is warm and yummy but is often still moist and somewhat chewy. Waiting a couple of minutes will allow enough time for the last bits of moisture to evaporate and give you the best results." Mushroom popcorn in particular has a higher moisture content than other popcorn.] |

I've tried other companies selling mushroom kernels (on ebay)—their kernels consisted of 99.9% BUTTERFLY kernels. Messages to these companies about the lack of Mushroom kernels went unanswered. Just Poppin's mushroom kernels, however, were the opposite--a good 99% consistency of MUSHROOM kernels, with a very high pop rate. And the flavor is excellent, too. The price for size and shipping rates also are extremely fair and more than competitive.

I think te reason this corn pops so large is tat the hulls are a bit tougher and therefore cause the corn to pop at a higher temperature. The hulls are very tough and you shouldn't eat them. We found that by shaking the popped corn, the hulls that were loose would fall to the bottom of the bowl and we could the transfer the corn to another bowl. Shaking may also help to loosen the hulls that don't fall off. |

This is no reflection on the company but I noticed that mushroom popcorn has a lot of hulls, that needed to be spit out during eating and many hull fell off into the bowl. I wondered if this is the nature of mushroom pop corn. The pop corn tasted great and would order again.
