The awesomeness of sorghum and how to pop it
I have had diverticulitis for 7 years. 6 years ago it got so bad that I had to give up popcorn. This summer I discovered sorghum. It is great! Tastes just like popcorn! I can eat it without getting sick. I did find it very difficult to make. I tried using a pot on the stove with and without oil. I tried using an old air popper. Here is the best way I have found to pop sorghum. Use the West Bend Air Crazy, the one like on this website. Don't use the new version as it blows air straight up and the sorghum just goes right out without any popping. I use 1 tablespoon of sorghum, pop it and then take the top off the popper and let it cool for 4 minuets. Make sure you are in the kitchen close to the exhaust fan as the sorghum smokes when popped. I pop a lot of batches and then store the popped sorghum in a Tupperware container. Since there is no oil used during popping the popped sorghum stays good for several weeks. I take 2 cups of popped sorghum add seasonings and it is the perfect snack. This method takes pretty much an entire afternoon, but I find it to be well worth in in the long run. The only reason I did not give sorghum 5 stars is due the difficulties in popping it.

A lifesaver in my house
My 3-year old son is allergic to corn but loves popcorn. He was heartbroken when I told him he couldn't eat popcorn anymore. I was desperate to find an alternative & couldn't believe it when I found popping sorghum. Tastes great & makes my kid happy. Our whole family snacks on it now. Pops great too if you follow popping instructions. Took me a few tries to figure it out, but I'm a pro at it now. Thank you so much for making this product available!

Popping Sorghum is Awesome
My corn allergy has made food unfun. Popping sorghum has changed that. I have perfected my technique using my stainless steel kettle, olive oil, and sea salt and am able to create a wonderful, healthy snack in minutes. (If it seems too healthy, I can always dowse the sorghum in melted butter!) Love, love, love this product.

Sorghum
I must say that I liked this but not enough to have it be a new snack food for everyone at my house. I liked that I could even eat the kernels that did not pop.

Wonderful alternative to popcorn!
Great alternative for popcorn and I love that you can eat the seeds without getting the "hulls" stuck in your teeth and gums. My kids can't have regular popcorn and they love the sorghum. It is a bit of an art to popping it, but once you get the technique down it works great.

Popping Sorghum
I have an allergy to corn and purchased this product as an alternative to popped corn. I used my "stir and pop" it's an older machine that pluggs in and has the piece of wire that goes round and round stirring the kernals. I followed the directions provided and definately exceeded the average of popped kernals/. There were very few left unpopped. I used canola oil this time but will try coconut oil next time. The popped sorghum is delicious. It's alctually tastier than corn. I put some extra fine salt on it and it was super. It doesn't need butter - it has a buttery taste all on it's own. delicious!

Perfect
I followed the instructions that came with the Sorghum and had good results. If I popped another type of popcorn beforehand and then popped the Sorghum, the Sorghum popped even better. Great tasting and I was glad to find a good source of popping Sorghum.
